BUY BLACK EVERYDAY!

BUY BLACK EVERYDAY!

"Not a trend but a movement..."

written by Brandon Broadus

Supporting Black-owned businesses consistently is crucial for creating lasting economic impact and reducing racial wealth disparities. Recent data shows significant growth in Black entrepreneurship, with Black-owned businesses adding $212 million in revenue to the economy and paying over $61 million in salaries in 2022. From 2017 to 2022, the number of Black-owned employer businesses increased by 56.9%, representing over half of the new employer businesses started in the U.S. during this period.

However, despite this progress, achieving parity with the Black population share would take 80 years at the current growth rate. To accelerate this timeline and create meaningful change, consumers must make a conscious, ongoing effort to support Black-owned businesses. This sustained support helps build generational wealth, create jobs in Black communities, and foster economic resilience. By consistently choosing to "buy Black," consumers contribute to a more inclusive and dynamic economy, driving innovation and cultural preservation while addressing long-standing economic inequalities.
